Course Details

If you want to progress in your professional career in HR or L&D you know you need to differentiate yourself from the crowd. An MA Professional Practice Strategic Human Resource Management and Development provides you with the pinnacle of HR study and allows you to demonstrate your skills in the best possible way. A Master’s Degree is for those who wish to demonstrate that they have reached the top of the human resources profession.

Whether you take route one (for those who are current CIPD Chartered Members / Fellows) or route two (for those who have successfully completed the CIPD Advanced Diploma), you’ll be provided with:

  • Face-to-face workshops - facilitated by programme experts, and giving you the knowledge and support to tackle your studies and assignments with confidence
  • Action learning sets - working with your fellow learners through support and challenge as you draft and hone your dissertation
  • Directed learning materials and text books – providing you with the knowledge to excel in your MA through leading edge materials
  • Virtual learning environment (VLE) - to help, support, and guide you on the journey, with online content and discussion boards
  • Tutor support - through every part of your studies, inside and away from the workshop

Our lecturers are experts in their field. Rather than “lecture” you, they act as facilitators, reflecting the higher level of the MA qualification. We emphasise shared learning and peer support.  As well as learning from our expert tutors, you’ll have the chance to engage with and learn from with other HR professionals.

You need to gain 180 Masters level credits to complete your Masters Degree.  MOL has developed two routes to help you achieve this:

Route A: If you’ve completed the CIPD Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management or Development, you’ll be given accreditation of prior learning (APL) equivalent to 120 credits. On this route, you study one module to gain the remaining 60 credits

Route B: On this route, you’ll be given accreditation of prior learning (APL) equivalent to 90 credits for holding current CIPD Chartered Membership or Fellowship, and then study two modules to gain the remaining 90 credits.

You’ll gain a MA Professional Practice Strategic Human Resource Management and Development accredited by the Sheffield Hallam University.

You’ll also gain the key skills to:

  • Critically evaluate
  • Review and strategically approach issues in your own organisation
  • Assess environmental effects on your workplace
  • Conduct action research
  • Deliver a Master’s Degree level report with costed recommendations.
