Meet the Tutor – Andy Murphy

Andy has experience teaching all over the world.

We’ll be introducing some of them in a series of Q&As, kicking off with Andy Murphy. Backed by a wealth of global experience, Andy teaches Human Resources and Learning & Development, at both Level 3 and Level 5. 

Tell us about your experience in the industry and/or education.

With many years of experience in People Management and Development in both the public and private sector, I have a broad understanding of both business and people management having lived and worked in over 30 countries.

How and why did you get into teaching?

In the earlier parts of my career, I worked with organisations that were very strong on the development of individuals and teams to build organisational performance. This soon developed into more formal teaching in Further and Higher Education, then teaching in professional qualifications.

Tell us why you're so passionate about your subject area.

It's great to work with dedicated people professionals and Learning & Development professionals who are keen to have a positive impact on people's lives.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to students who are considering studying a professional qualification?

Be kind to yourself. Make sure you allow yourself the time that is needed to give yourself a realistic opportunity to do well on the course. By that I mean not just passing the assessments but also developing your capabilities and building confidence in your field.
