Meet the Tutor – Clare Tranter

Clare is passionate about supporting people to be better managers.

With 25 years’ experience in learning and development and the last 10 years focusing on supporting managers, Clare Tranter is now a CMI Level 3 and 5 tutor and assessor with MOL.

Tell us about your experience in the industry and/or education.

I have been lucky enough to be in Learning and Development for 25 years. Over the past 10 years, I have focused on supporting managers to develop their people and leadership skills. 

As a manager at the start of my career after leaving university, I know the impact a great manager can have and I enjoy enabling others to learn and grow. 

I have worked with MOL for 5 years as a CMI Level 3 and 5 tutor and assessor and I'm passionate about supporting professional qualifications and empowering learners to apply their learning into the real world.

How and why did you get into teaching?

I started in food retail and quickly realised I enjoyed managing a team, particularly learning and development activities, so moved to a global HR company where I completed my CIPD and became an L&D specialist. I had a great manager who supported my career choice into training and I haven't looked back since.

Tell us why you're so passionate about your subject area.

I love the opportunities that training others brings, seeing other people achieve their goals and grow in their roles and careers is very rewarding. I am fortunate that I enjoy what I do; I use my strengths and I know how I add value through supporting people to be better managers and improve organisational performance.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to students who are considering studying a professional qualification?

Schedule time in your weekly organiser/diary for your studies and be disciplined in protecting that time.
