The Builders’ Merchants’ Federation held its first HR Forum on Tuesday, 19, May 2015 at its Head Office in Coventry.

The aim of the forums are to assist BMF member companies through the identification of business issues of concern and relevance. Members of the forum were encouraged to share best practice, and to liaise with relevant third parties such as training providers who will be represented by companies such as MOL.

Each of the delegates introduced themselves to the Forum with a wide range of builders’ merchants represented.

There were a number of topics discussed during the day including key recruitment issues facing builders’ merchants relating to diversity and succession planning.

Michael O’Sullivan gave a presentation relating to product knowledge training opportunities that are available to members of the BMF through MOL.

There was also the opportunity to meet attendees over lunch which gave the opportunity to discuss topics that are currently of interest within the builder’s merchants industry.

Steve Sellick also gave a presentation relating to the Institute of Builders’ Merchants who intend to formally record the achievement of builders’ merchants’ employees’ professional qualifications.
