MSc top-up modules
This MSc top-up includes two parts: a research proposal and a final dissertation. You’ll choose a topic based on something real in your workplace, and your tutor will support you throughout.
Here are some examples of topics you might explore:
Look at how hybrid working affects day-to-day culture, communication, and how people feel about work. You’ll look at what’s working, what isn’t, and how to improve it.
Use data to understand how people are hired, developed and retained. This could include things like planning for future skills or spotting gaps in your current team.
Investigate how inclusive your workplace really is. Look at areas like recruitment, progression, and day-to-day experiences to find out what could be done better.
Your dissertation project should focus on something useful and relevant to your role, so the work you put in has a clear purpose.
MSc assessment
You’ll complete two written assessments as part of the MSc top-up:
A 2,500-word research proposal: you’ll outline your topic, approach, and what you plan to investigate
A 12,000-word dissertation: your final project, based on research you carry out in your own organisation
There are no exams. You’ll get regular feedback from your tutor to help you stay on track, and clear guidance at every stage of the process.
