How to stay on top of your studies during the festive break?

It’s going to be a very different festive season for all of us this year. For those of us planning to use this time as an opportunity to catch up, or get ahead, in our professional development the challenges we’re presented with could be very different. We’ve compiled a few tips and tricks giving you the opportunity to make the most of your festive break.

Remember to take a break

This year has taken its toll on all of us. Take the time you need to refresh and recharge your batteries.  You’ll be far more productive in the workplace and with your studies if you take the chance to recover from all the challenges this year has thrown at us.

Give yourself realistic targets

This time of year is always hectic. Set yourself targets for your studies that are realistic to your situation. Having the time and space to study, with children and family in the house, may not be easy; so don’t be too hard on yourself. We've also created a useful infographic providing some guidance and advice to help you study when the kids are off school.

Set aside time for your studies

We all have conflicting interests and demands on our time during the festive season. The only way to get the break you deserve, and be productive in your studies, is to structure your study time around your family and social demands. Make sure you let your family know your study times so they understand you need that time to focus on your work.

Create a study area

Take yourself away from any distractions. We can all be experts at procrastination and any small disturbance can be enough for us to find an excuse to drop the ball when it comes to studying.

Organise your study materials

If you only have short periods of time to study, being prepared and organised will save you so much time. Your time is valuable, so having your study materials on hand and ready to use is vital.

Remain positive and stay focused on your goals

Don’t forget what you’re working towards. The chance to develop your skills and achieve qualifications is a stepping-stone in your career. Putting in the hard work now will pay dividends in the future. If you'd like some additional tips and tricks, we've compiled 13 ways to help you succeed in your online course.

Stay positive in the face of the mostly pleasant challenges the season poses for you. There’ll be lots of things that are out of your control but remember you’re doing well, keep up the good work.
