Chloe

The 19-year-old from Warwickshire, who is studying for her NFoPP Level 3 Technical Award in Chattels Auctioneering with MOL, set her sights on a career as an auctioneer from the age of 11. She said: “I used to watch 'Flog It!' on television and I thought that was the job for me. It had excitement and drama.”

Chloe, who works at Warwick Auctions of Coventry, chose to specialise in chattels, selling a huge range of items in her salerooms. Chloe explains: “I could be selling something from Ikea one minute and an antique the next. You never know what is going to turn up at the sale. That’s what I enjoy and why I’m so passionate about auctioneering chattels.”

At only 19, Chloe has a long career in auctioneering ahead of her, but she has no doubt the road will be difficult. “I have a very steep learning curve ahead of me,” said Chloe. “Learning about the legislation involved is tough, but I’m finding it fascinating.”

Chloe looks set for a meteoric rise in her chosen profession. After a mere three months she was entered for the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA) Auctioneer of the Year competition, held at Stratford Manor, Warwickshire - an amazing achievement in itself. Not only did Chloe finish as runner-up, she was also touted as a future member of the NAVA Committee.

“I was amazed by my achievement,” said Chloe. “To be mentioned in that way after only three months is incredible.”
