MOL Learn Student Hazel Up For Management Award

Training Manager Hazel Spain is hoping to bring home the prestigious Michael Kelly Outstanding Student Award – intermediate and foundation level in September, following her nomination for the national CIPD People Management Awards. Hazel, from Kent, studied with MOL for her CIPD Level 3 Learning and Development Foundation qualification.

Her MOL tutors suggested she enter for the award and endorsed her nomination. She will now travel to Canary Wharf to present to a panel of judges for her chance to win the award outright. It’s an important feature of the CIPD Level 3 Learning and Development qualification delivered by MOL that learners aim to apply their learning direct to the workplace. This is key to Hazel’s shortlisting for the Michael Kelly award, which celebrates students who can demonstrate how their studies have enabled them to make innovations in their organisation. Hazel will present to the CIPD judges on how she has implemented what she learned and how she has improved the business as a result.

She has already worked hard for consideration by the judges, having completed a 1000-word resume, endorsed by MOL and her employer, Ebix Europe. The CIPD People Management Awards celebrate outstanding achievement in people management and development. Hazel will find out whether she’s the overall winner of her category at a black-tie awards night in London on 26 September. Hazel took her learning and development qualification with MOL to help her gain a more senior learning and development role. Like many of our learners, she welcomed MOL’s flexible delivery and regional training venues.

Hazel, who has three teenage children, with one about to start university said: “To be a finalist is a proud achievement. I knew about the awards but I would never have put myself forward without my tutors. Aside from the fact I’m a learning and development professional, I love learning myself. I would love to do higher CIPD qualifications with MOL. My tutor was inspiring, the environment was amazing and the people I studied with were lovely.” Rachel Burnham, Hazel’s tutor, said: “Hazel was full of enthusiasm for the programme right from the first workshop. She threw herself into making the most of all the opportunities provided and tapped into her curiosity to access resources, network and share her learning with other participants in the programme.”
