MOL’s David Hughes was honoured with a Life Long Achievement Award at the Propertymark Qualifications Awards, held at the House of Lords on Wednesday 23 October.

The prestigious award came as a result of David’s years of dedication and service to property education. The ceremony also recognised learners who achieved top marks in their Propertymark qualifications as well as other individuals who made a significant contribution to the property industry throughout the year.

David has been responsible for the development and writing of the study materials for the Propertymark qualifications for over 15 years. He has also played a critical role in the development of the recently launched Property Live Online programme; an innovative new online property training programme from MOL.

Over the course of an illustrious career, David has held a number of significant roles in the industry. Beginning his property career in a family run estate agency, he expanded his property knowledge by studying and becoming a chartered surveyor. Subsequently, David started his own chartered surveying company.

David later reconnected with a previous background in teaching by taking on a senior lecturer for surveying role at Manchester College of Arts and Technology. This then led to his involvement with residential property qualifications.

Paul Jager, Product Manager for Property, Learning and Innovation at MOL, said: “This was a fantastic achievement, well over due and down to David’s tireless championing of property education. He has worked relentlessly over many years to help ensure that the Propertymark qualification and study workbooks are the high quality they are today.

“David had no idea that his name had been submitted for the Propertymark Life Long Achievement Award. Not until the host of the ceremony read out a description of the Life Long Achievement winner, did it slowly dawn on David that they were talking about him.”
